Welcome Q&A

What is your previous work and education experience?

After receiving my bachelor of science in biomedicine from Central Washington University, I went on to work for the University of Washington as a Research Coordinator. I worked in Medical Genetics on the eMERGE study, which looked at patients risk of developing different polygenic diseases.

What areas of research are you most interested in learning more about?

I am interested in learning how to improve patient care and making healthcare more accessible. I am also interested in how lifestyle factors impact patient's health or increase/decrease their risk of developing different diseases.

What skills do you hope to gain in this position?

I hope to gain experience working with patients and how to improve patient care. I look forward to learning more about patient engagement and how to make our patient population feel known and cared for. I'm excited to gain skills in collaboration and working with other institutions to further research on Merkel cell carcinoma.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like to spend time with my husband as well as our friends that I like to call my chosen family. I am in the UW band where I play the alto saxophone. I also enjoy exploring new coffee shops or having a fresh cup of coffee at home often with friends or while reading a good book.
