The Merkel Cell Carcinoma Collaborative (MC3) Institute is delighted to welcome three new undergraduate research assistants; Brooke Chen, Myna Kommareddy, and Ava Watson!

Brooke, Myna, and Ava were selected from a competitive pool of applicants for their high academic standing and praise from their work and extra-curricular colleagues. We are thrilled for them to join our team at the UW Medicine South Lake Union biomedical research campus and begin supporting our projects.

Brooke ChenBrooke Chen 

Pronouns: she/her 

Major: Environmental Public Health 

Hometown: Seattle, Wash. 

What are your education and career goals?   

In the future, I hope to pursue medical school and explore different specialties within dermatology. I also hope to utilize my educational background to further research the intersectionality of health and environmental equity. 

What do you like to do in your free time?  

In my free time, I love to play the violin. I also enjoy discovering new hikes, exploring coffee shops around Seattle, or spending time with my dog, Jimmy. 


Myna KommareddyMyna Kommareddy 

Pronouns: she/her 

Major: Applied Mathematics 

Hometown: Camas, Wash. 

What are your education and career goals?   

I am on the pre-medicine track, hoping to become a physician. I am interested in the fields of both oncology and dermatology which is why I'm excited to be a part of this lab! 

What do you like to do in your free time? 

In my free time I like to go on runs and explore new trails. I also enjoy reading, and love to cook and share what I make with friends and family. 


Ava WatsonAva Watson 

Pronouns: she/her 

Major: Public Health 

Hometown: Shoreline, Wash. 

What are your education and career goals?   

As an undergraduate student, I plan to major in Public Health and explore clinical and research components of healthcare from a public health perspective. This educational path will provide me with the foundation to work as a physician in underserved communities. 

What do you like to do in your free time? 

I am an avid hiker and enjoy backpacking and camping throughout the Pacific Northwest. I also love exploring new places and enjoy cooking and playing volleyball.
