A Successful 4th International Merkel Cell Carcinoma Meeting Boston, MA · April 27–28, 2026
142 researchers, clinicians, trainees, and patient advocates gathered in Boston for two days dedicated to advancing the understanding of Merkel cell carcinoma. The program was chaired by Ann Silk, MD, and featured a keynote address by Yuan Chang, MD on MCPyV in MCC. Isaac Brownell, MD, PhD, the community organizer, helped to emcee the event.
Day 1 - Science: The first day delved into the biology of MCPyV, new mouse models, and tumor immunology, with a look at emerging therapeutics including vaccines and TCR T cell therapy.
Day 2 - Clinical Management: The second day shifted to the clinic, covering radiation therapy, neoadjuvant and adjuvant immunotherapy, refractory disease management, and ctDNA-based detection — anchored by three lightning debates on contested treatment questions.
A white paper from the organizers summarizing the meeting's findings is on the way. Stay tuned!
