MC3 Member Spotlight: John Paoli, MD, PhD

Dr. John Paoli, MC3 member and professor at the University of Gothenburg, has received the Schlasberg Award for his skin cancer research and his work to advance and share knowledge of dermoscopy. Every three years, the Swedish Society of Medicine awards the Schlasberg Prize to an individual who has made distinguished scientific contributions to the field of dermatology and venereology. 

Dr. Paoli's work focuses on improving the early detection and diagnosis of skin cancer through innovative techniques, including dermoscopy, teledermoscopy, artificial intelligence, and advanced imaging.

In addition to his research and clinical work, Paoli has made significant contributions to medical education, training more than 1,500 physicians in dermoscopy since 2014. He received the award at the Swedish Society of Medicine’s annual ceremony on October 20th, 2026.
